Man oh man folks have been going back and forth all day long about this whole Juan Williams firing by NPR.  A lot of people are defending him and I think it might be because they weren’t all that offended by his irrational fear of Muslims flying on airplanes.

I’ve been very surprised by the sheer number of people out there who are defending Juan Williams and attacking NPR.  I don’t necessarily know if firing him outright for what he said was the right thing to do, but I do know what he said was xenophobic and bigoted and he should apologize for it.  What is also true is that there might be a lot of people out there who agree with his comment and therefore don’t really see what the big deal is.  I have a much bigger problem with that fact than Juan Williams being a scaredy cat.
