I will fully admit I hadn’t heard of Les Phillip.

Perhaps I haven’t been paying attention to my news feeds enough (Come on, Lost & 24 just ended! I had to give my full attention so that both could terribly disappoint me.) Maybe it got past me on Twitter. But my current working theory is that my brain wouldn’t allow me to have any knowledge of this douche…er…dude. Much like a a person who blocks out trauma because they can’t handle it, I think my brain knows that folks like Les will eventually have me standing on street corners preaching–Black Israelite style–about the end of things as we know it.

Here is Les’s campaign video. He’s running to be a member of congress from Alabama.

Well imaginary person, I did NOT make this video. Did you see any guy with a hat flailing his hands around? Did you hear ridiculous laughter in the background because no one could keep a straight face while saying this absolute nonsense? This is real. Apparently the republicans have enacted operation Uncle Rukus. This my friends is magical. And not that stupid-ass magic that happens on TV shows, and then 6 years later they never explain any of it. I’m talking about pure unadulterated  magic. One day someone will write books about this time in our society when everyone offiically went bat-shit crazy.

What’s sad is that I wish that I could laugh at Les Phillip and move on with my day. Knowing that people are going to think he’s an absolute idiot and go about their lives.

This is a great, no-punches-pulled ad from Alabama congressional candidate Les Phillip.  He does sound like the antithesis of Barack Obama:

• One born overseas and immigrated to America; the other…we justdon’t know
• One fell in with anti-American radicals; the other joined the U.S. military
• One loves his country; the other is ashamed of it

I’m not shitting on the idea of Black republicans; Currently I shit on the idea of being “A republican” in general. But I’m not specifically calling them at the moment because then I’d be adding to the whole monolith nonsense. But I do shit on the idea that you run on the basis of “THEY CANT CALL ME RACIST, I”LL GET’EM! DON’T YOU WORRY!” How many shades of #effed up is that?

At last count: 743.83 and a third.
